I’ve been listening to the verbal gymnastics of politicians for years, but it always makes me laugh to see how far they’ll go to avoid saying the words “tax increase.” Now I’ve finally figured it out, Colorado state Rep. Max Tyler, D-Lakewood, showed that there are some politicians who just think businesses are another government agency.

Referring to bills that cut business tax exemptions in Colorado this year, Tyler described them as a 5% cut in the “$2 billion worth of tax credits” and then compared the “cuts” to the cuts in education and health and human services as if businesses were just another government agency.

If you’re a business owner and you’re paying more taxes than you were the previous year, you see it as a tax increase, no matter what flowery language is used to describe it.
