Will Pres. Obama (and his flatlining job approval ratings) help or hurt vulnerable Democratic incumbents like U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet?
It’s clear from the robocall that Obama recorded (which is reportedly hitting the phones of 464,000 households in Colorado) that Bennet is doubling down that it helps him win a primary against Andrew Romanoff.
“I need Michael Bennet in the Senate so that together he and I can can continue to fight for the future we want and the change we need,” said the President.
But frankly, how much more change that they NEED can we STAND?
“It’s vital to recognize the pattern: The Obama administration is gradually changing the nature of our economy and society by putting government at the center,” Peter J. Wallison of the American Enterprise Institute succinctly wrote in a letter to The Wall Street Journal.
Obama’s vocal endorsement may lure Democratic loyalists to back Bennet in the Colorado primary.
The price to pay would come in November’s general election. With Republican voters fired up and unaffiliated voters wondering how “Yes, we can!” went so wrong, the backlash against the Obama agenda will be toxic for incumbents like Bennet.
