Sen. Bennet and Pres. Obama: where has the love gone?

“I know one thing: Washington has a lot to learn from Colorado,” U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet reportedly said Tuesday night, celebrating his victory over Andrew Romanoff.

One of those things, we surmise, is that the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. can help in a Democratic primary in Colorado; maybe not so much in the general election when independent voters are the prize.

Bennet appeared on “Good Morning America” with George Stephanopoulos, whose blog post on ABCNews. com was headlined, “Sen. Bennet Appreciates Obama’s Help, Not Sure He Wants Him Back.”

We can’t improve on that, but will point you to the WhoSaidYouSaid blog post two weeks ago that raised similar questions given Bennet’s lockstep support of the Obama agenda.

Marc Ambinder of The Atlantic (edited, Ambinder is obliged to disclose, by Sen. Bennet’s brother, James Bennet) wrote today that, “…Bennet’s team is belly-aching at the White House braggadocio” over their role in his primary victory.

Might as well claim the credit while it lasts. There may not be much to go around on Nov. 3 after the general election against Republican Ken Buck.
