After his State of the Union address on Tuesday, Pres. Obama started a muti-state tour (targeting key election states such as Colorado – no coincidence) to plead his case. Before the president’s stop at Buckley Air Force Base on Thursday, some Republican leaders held a press conference at the state Capitol, questioning his flawed economic policies and endless campaigning.

Here’s what state Rep. Robert Ramirez, R-Westminster, told us afterward…

“He’s spending our money to campaign,” said Ramirez. “When is this man going to become president? Three years now, not one time has he been president. Even Bill Clinton, a man that I don’t really respect in a lot of ways, took the time to stop campaigning and be president of the United States. George Bush also made mistakes, but he was president of the United States. And gosh sakes, we had Ronald Reagan, for sure.

“But President Obama has not stopped. Every State of the Union has been a campaign speech. The speech the other night about, “Oh, let’s just work and put America back on track”…it’s not about America being on track to him. Mr. President, it’s time to get the engine started, it’s time to stop planning, and it’s time to start doing. Now. You have made nothing but mistakes. You have done nothing but spend taxpayer money and put us farther in debt. And I, for one, as an American, as an Hispanic American, am not proud to say you are my president.”

President Barack Obama delivered his third (and hopefully, last) State of the Union address this week. Although he failed to mention that it’s been 1,000 days since the U.S. Senate passed his last budget, he managed to make two seemingly conflicting statements in the same speech. First, he praised his management of one of the big auto industry bailout (though he didn’t use that term)…

“On the day I took office, our auto industry was on the verge of collapse. Some even said we should let it die. With a million jobs at stake, I refused to let that happen. In exchange for help, we demanded responsibility. We got workers and automakers to settle their differences. We got the industry to retool and restructure. Today, General Motors is back on top as the world’s number one automaker. Chrysler has grown faster in the U.S. than any major car company. Ford is investing billions in U.S. plants and factories. And together, the entire industry added nearly 160,000 jobs.”

Note that “Ford, which didn’t accept TARP funds, has seen its sales increase 11 percent — without Obama’s help to ‘retool and restructure,’” according to PolitiFact.

And Obama’s great bailout brought us the Chevy Volt, fantastic.

Later in the speech, Obama then said we all need to “play by the rules,” which means “no bailouts”…

“Let’s never forget: Millions of Americans who work hard and play by the rules every day deserve a government and a financial system that do the same. It’s time to apply the same rules from top to bottom: No bailouts, no handouts, and no copouts. An America built to last insists on responsibility from everybody.”

Can you say cognitive dissonance?

Since it seems almost every department in the Obama Administration is under the cloud of some scandal, I wrote this little poem based on “Humpty Dumpty”…

All the President’s Scandals

Barack Obama sat on a wall
And then all his poll numbers started to fall
And all of his cabinet
And all of his men
Couldn’t bring up his numbers again

Eric Holder thought:
“Let’s get drug dealer guns”
All the people will love it

But then they were used

Chu said, “Well it’s kinda funny . . . ”

Obama looked at his team
And he said with a fright
“Is there NO ONE who works for me
That can do something right?”

He looked over to Labor
And his spirits they soared!
There’s got to be some good
On the National Labor Relations Board

But the NLRB,
It went after Boeing
“This is a favor to the unions,”
The people started crowing

What’s next, Obama thought
What about the EPA?
But the overregulation
Scared businesses away

TSA bought machines
Rendering everyone naked
Between those, and the pat downs,
The people couldn’t take it

Defense was too busy
Dealing with Iran
In fact our foreign policy
is largely in the trash can

Obama sighed when he thought
Health care’s going to the Supremes
“BUT KAGAN’S NOT IMPARTIAL,”
The people all screamed

“I hear they have the votes, Larry!!”
Her email exclaimed
So her claims of unbias
Sound especially lame

If the law’s constitutional
They said with guffaws
“There’s nothing we do
NOT covered by the Commerce Clause”

Obama considered turning to
HUD and to Agriculture
But he started to see
The circling vulture

Obama looked at his team
And he couldn’t handle
The fact that every department

You know anti-tax feelings run deep when Crossroads GPS launches a $2.6 million ad buy in five states (including Colorado) that targets Pres. Obama – a year before the 2012 presidential election.

“The TV ad, entitled ‘Two Presidents,’ begins running today in Colorado, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania, and contrasts President Obama’s tax increase proposal with the position of former President Bill Clinton, who has repeatedly said it is a bad idea to raise taxes in a weak economy,” according to CrossRoads GPS.

In Colorado, the 30-second TV spot began running today as part of a $296,000 ad buy in the Denver and Colorado Springs markets, according to a press release from the group, which is backed by Republican strategist Karl Rove.

This ad skillfully juxtaposes the statements of Pres. Obama and former Pres. Clinton, a savvy move since recent polling suggests that another Clinton (Hillary) might do better in the presidential race than Obama. Contrasting Obama’s spending proposals and divisive rhetoric to a moderate Democrat like Bill Clinton (instead of to a Republican) lets the viewer sense just how far to the left is Obama’s government-funded jobs plan in a down economy.

For his part, Clinton released a statement making nice with Obama’s policies.

There can be no doubt that anti-tax feelings are running strong among Coloradans, who in the Nov. 1 election destroyed the Proposition 103 proposal to raises taxes $2.9 billion. By the way, thanks to Colorado Peak Politics for a great postmortem on, as they put it, “How A Rag-Tag Collection Of Conservatives Helped Kill The $3 Billion Tax Hike.”

The “leadership” of the Democratic Party appears increasingly unhinged from reality, and not just in its embrace of the Occupy campers. Consider these recent statements…

That’s a far cry from his aspirational 2004 keynote at the Democratic National Convention:

“Now even as we speak, there are those who are preparing to divide us, the spin masters and negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of anything goes.”

Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, pushing the same legislation [see video above and Investor's Business Daily report here] says that…

“….it’s very clear that private sector jobs are doing just fine. It’s the public sector jobs where we’ve lost huge numbers, and that’s what this legislation’s all about.”

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock has launched an ad against Denver’s Initiative 300, which would require all Denver businesses to offer paid sick leave to their employees. He’s right to oppose the Nov. 1 ballot measure. Here’s my earlier take, including a satirical video, on what’s wrong with Prop. 300.

While Hancock gets it right opposing Initiative 300 [see video below] he gets it wrong in backing the so-called American Jobs Act proposed by President Obama. The White House is promoting this video of Hancock’s endorsement…

Among the many problems with Pres. Obama’s plan, noted The Wall Street Journal, is that it sets “up the U.S. economy for one of the biggest tax increases in history in 2013.”

Senate Republicans came out today with their own version, called “The Real American Jobs Act” that proposes tax reform.

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett’s plea that Washington stop coddling the wealthy – and raise their taxes – was predictably applauded by Pres. Obama.

GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry, however, said, “Taking money away from Warren Buffett is not going to affect anything.”

Instead of taking, how about giving? That was Pat Buchanan’s response to Buffett’s op-ed today in The New York Times.

“Look, I’m a little fed up with these people that come on, you know, their big op-eds, all these admonitions,” said Buchanan on MSNBC. “Why doesn’t he set an example and send a check for $5 billion to the federal government?”

U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., won the Ames, Iowa, straw poll and Gov. Rick Perry, R-Texas, is getting in the race to unseat Pres. Obama. But frankly, it shouldn’t matter who the GOP nominates for president IF that person runs on the platform outlined in this video and social media campaign, “Economic Freedom & Quality of Life.”

It succinctly states what most Americans know (or should know) about the greatest experiment in liberty the world has seen. Pres. Obama can’t articulate that vision because his rhetoric is a fog of feeling about equality of outcomes, not a call to action for equality of opportunity.

U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh, R-Ill., posted a blistering video, calling out Pres. Obama’s failure to lead on spending and debt reforms.

“I know you have a willing media that protects everything you say and do, but have you no shame, sir?” said Walsh in the video. “In three short years you’ve bankrupted this country and destroyed job creation. You’re either in over your head, you don’t understand what makes this country great, or are hell-bent in turning us into some European, big government wasteland.”
