WhoSaidYouSaid wants to see your political video

The Democratic National Committee recently launched a national call-to-action titled The Accountability Project, urging citizens to upload video and other media that tracks Republican candidates.

“Certainly, in Illinois, you’re seeing a lot of stories about (GOP U.S. Senate candidate Mark) Kirk who, you know, maybe some of his stories haven’t been as accurate over time. And a lot of that’s been from people taping and hearing what he’s saying at one venue, to another venue, and how he’s changed depending on who he’s talked to,” said Jen O’Malley Dillon, DNC executive director, in an interview with Talking Points Memo at the Netroots Nation 2010 conference in Las Vegas.

Replace “Kirk” in the sentence above with “Hickenlooper” “Bennet,” “Markey” (to name a few) in Colorado - or others elsewhere - and you get the general idea. [Click on the links above to see and hear for yourself.]

The purpose of WhoSaidYouSaid, by the way, is not “gotcha” but “betcha,” as in betcha if you watch and listen carefully enough, Democratic candidates for public office, leftist activists and policymakers from all walks will tell you what they think - and what they’d like to do with your tax dollars.

We’ll have more to say soon about ways to help the cause. And you can read more about WhoSaidYouSaid in The Colorado Statesman.

For now, if you upload relevant political video to YouTube (or other sites) - or simply see revelatory video or audio content - drop us a line at [email protected].

“When folks are talking to an environment that they feel comfortable in, they’re going to say a lot different things, potentially, then when they’re talking to an audience that they think could be, you know, press could be there,” said Dillon. “So, being able to capture those moments early on when folks are really probably speaking more true to what they think is going to be incredibly important…”

Smart woman. If only she were working on the right side.
