Crisanta Duran, a labor attorney and Denver Democrat who won election from Colorado’s House District 5, won’t be sworn in until January.

Yet, she already sees what she called “radical conservatism” by Republicans as an opportunity for her party in 2012.

Duran spoke at a recent Progressive Majority / Young Elected Officials event in Washington, D.C. She referenced a move by the Colorado Speaker-elect (Republican Frank McNulty of Highlands Ranch) to strike the words “labor” and “energy” from committee names.

“Both parties have altered committee names from time to time as their political fortunes have changed,” noted StateBillNews.com, in reporting the change.

Here’s Duran, in the video above from Progressive Majority….

“And I say, if the Republicans want to continue down with this agenda - this agenda of ‘no’ and radical conservatism - let ‘em,” Duran said. “And let’s win in 2012. Because when it comes down to the issues that affect working families, when it comes down to the direction that we need to take our cities and state and country - allow them to continue down the same road that they do - and let’s fight for progressive values in the future…”
