Wilson: Attacks a reminder of danger faced by U.S. and those serving overseas

Heather Wilson, the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in New Mexico, released a statement condemning “violent attacks against U.S. diplomats in Cairo and Libya.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others who were killed serving our country,” Wilson said. “Yesterday’s attacks are a reminder that the world is still a very dangerous place. We are grateful to our men and women in the diplomatic corps, and in our military and intelligence services who promote America’s vital interests all around the world. Over the coming days and weeks, the United States should use all tools available to us to find out who was responsible for the murder of our diplomats and hunt them down.”

U.S. Rep. Martin Heinrich, D.-N.M., Wilson’s opponent, released the following statement:

“I strongly condemn this attack and those who killed the U.S. Ambassador and three other Americans serving in Libya. The perpetrators of this attack must be brought to justice. These brave American diplomats are to be commended for their service to our country and celebrated as the heroes that they are. My thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones affected by this heinous tragedy.”
